I am a web and database analyst/programmer with wide-ranging experience in the cultural heritage and commercial sectors designing and programming web and database applications. I enjoy challenging roles where I can contribute my skills in server-side and client-side web and application analysis and programming, architecture and interface design.
I have been developing web applications since 1999 and designing websites since 1994. I completed a two year post-graduate degree in Computer Science (Software Engineering) in 2001.
Some interesting projects have included the Çatalhöyük Research Project, Exploring 20th Century London, Oracle forms migration, creating a digital archive to record medieval property transaction from London's waterfront properties and Ceramics and Glass.
My professional interests include online access to museum collections, objects and archaeological data; digital cultural heritage; interoperability, the semantic web and related technologies; user-centered design; open source technologies; usability and information architecure for websites and database applications; and the use of open standards.
My personal interests include writing travelogues, creating animations and short films, and I also enjoy travel, cycling, surfing, music and reading (but I mostly only have time for reading and travelling).
In 2007 I was elected to the committee of the Museums Computer Group as Co-Webmaster. I was a member of the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded Thinktank 'UK Museums and the Semantic Web' in 2006/7. I am co-convenor of a theory reading group and often offer my geek skills to non-profit projects on a voluntary basis. I am a Professional Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).
